Need a bit of colour in your life? Take a stroll around the Auckland Art Gallery where you will have the largest and most inspiring visual experiences in NZ. The museum has more than 17,000 artworks so there’s plenty to look at. It has major historic, modern and contemporary NZ artwork. Its exhibitions are temporary and are always being switched out for new fresh pieces of art so you’ll have a new experience each time you go.

Walk around central Whangārei while soaking up some of the sun and marvel at the 15 murals painted by some of the best street artists in the world. The murals have transformed very grey boring walls into colourful masterpieces and added heaps of colour to town. Ever heard about Ghostbusters, well try Weedbusters in Kerikeri! Work alongside locals to improve the native forest regeneration around Kerikeri. This is a great opportunity to experience NZ’s stunning flora and fauna while clearing all sorts of weeds that threaten generations of native NZ plants. Go along every second Monday from 9am to 12pm to the Kerikeri River Scenic Reserve and bring a positive attitude and open mind. Become a weedbuster here.
In need of a little mate? Christchurch Cat Rescue is looking for foster carers for cats and kittens while they look for more permanent homes for them. All you will need is a loving short term home for them and cat rescue will provide the rest. If you’re interested email catrescue.chch@gmail.com.
Wondered what it’s like to be a zookeeper? There is a chance for you to volunteer at NZ’s only open range zoo, Orana Wildlife Park. The zoo is a home for NZ’s only gorillas and a bunch of other exotic animals like cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos, and monkeys. You will be a super key part of the park because you’ll be helping to enthuse visitors and giving them an enjoyable experience visiting all the animals.
